The highlight of the carnival celebrations in Rastatt is the traditional carnival parade through the city center on Sunday, February 11, starting at 2 pm. The party starts at 11 a.m. with music by DJ Andi in the carnival village on the market square. The Rastatt carnival clubs offer drinks and food. The big parade with 63 groups starts at 2 pm in Bahnhofstraße at Hilberthof. It leads through Bahnhofstraße and Kapellenstraße to the BadnerHalle. There it turns into Herrenstraße and then leads through Schlossstraße via Kaiserstraße to the final stop at the town hall. The dance guards of the carnival clubs then perform on the market square stage.
Three most creative carnival groups receive awards
Whether particularly humorous, colorful and beautiful or satirical: creativity pays off at the Rastatt carnival parade. For the first time, all visitors are invited to vote for the three most creative groups or most beautiful floats. Votes can be cast online from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. or via a QR code printed at various points along the parade route and in the carnival village.
Arrival
Arrival, closures and parking options
The best way for visitors to get to the parade and carnival village is on foot, as the route of the carnival parade will be closed to traffic between 12 noon and around 6.30 pm. In some streets in the city center, work will begin at 10 a.m. to set up the closures so that it will no longer be possible to drive through. Detour will be signposted accordingly. There will also be a stopping ban along the route of the parade in Herrenstraße, Schlossstraße and Kaiserstraße near New Britain Park. As a presentation tower will be erected in Herrenstraße near the castle, the parking spaces to the right of the castle entrance will be closed the day before. This year, the VIP grandstand will be located in front of the historic town hall on the market square.
If you still come by car, you can park for free on the fairground on Friedrichring and in the upper Kaiserstraße as well as in the underground parking garage of Sparkasse Rastatt-Gernsbach for a fee. The BadnerHalle underground parking garage cannot be accessed during the parade and is therefore closed.
